On this page
The Ask AI box lets you change your setup in plain words instead of finding the right field: "make it sound less formal", "drop the job size question", "change the minimum to 25,000". It works out the change and shows it to you first. Nothing is saved until you press Keep.
Where it is
On the Quick start steps Your business, Your rules and Try your bot, and at the top of the Business setup pages Profile, Categories, your records' fields, What your bot finds out, Matching and Rules. It is not on Selling, Next step, What your bot may tell leads, Settings, Channels, Billing or Team, and it is not on the Offering section of Matching. Owners and admins only. Under the box, What Ask AI can and can't change opens this guide.
Each box answers for its own page. Typed on the Matching page, "drop the job size question" does not touch a question: it points you to the page that does. On Your rules and Rules it changes only a rule's number and its message. On Try your bot it changes how your bot sounds and your questions.
What it can change
- How your bot sounds and describes you: the bot's name and personality, the introduction, the example of its style, what you do, your opening hours, and the words you use for your records and your customers (How your bot sounds).
- Your questions: their wording, why you ask, how to help someone who is unsure, how much they matter, when to ask them, whether a question is a must-know, adding a question, and removing one (not a core one). It can mark a question as delicate, never the other way round.
- Categories and their options, and record fields (a new field, or a new label).
- Matching: how much a field counts, how it is compared, and a new comparison.
- Rules: the number and the message of a rule you already have.
It works from what you type and what is already in your setup. It does not read your website or your files; that is How AI fits your template to your website.
The answers
- A preview. "2 changes, not saved yet." Each change is a line saying what it does and, below it, the whole new text as it will read, so you see everything that would change. Keep 2 changes saves them and lists them in Setup history; Undo all closes the preview and saves nothing. A removal has no new text: its line says what goes. A single change reads Keep change and Undo.
- "Kept N changes." Your bot uses them from now on. A link opens Setup history, and Ask something else clears the box.
- "That's your call." The request is something only you decide (below). It says so and links to the page where you make that choice: Open Rules for who is turned away, Open Business profile for the currency, the time zone and the emergency message, Open Next step for booking, and Open Selling, Team, Billing, Channels or Open Settings for the rest. Where nothing on a page carries the choice, it only says Ask AI can't change that and that you can change it yourself on its page.
- "Belongs to another page." The change is real but lives somewhere else, with a link to that page. Nothing is changed.
- "I need a little more." Ask AI could not tell what you meant. Nothing is changed; Change your request puts your words back in the box to reword.
- "Something went wrong." The answer failed, and the message says nothing was changed. You can try again. If you have used your 20 requests for the hour it says "You've used this hour's Ask AI requests. Try again when the next hour starts."
A preview you do not keep for a day stops being valid, and if you have edited one of the same things in the meantime, nothing is saved and you are asked to ask again, so your own edits are never overwritten.
What it never changes, and why
Ask AI cannot change these, however you word the request. The server checks every change before showing it and again when you press Keep, so it holds even if the AI is confused or a stranger's text has been mixed into the request:
- Hard or Negotiable on a rule, how many hard rules turn a lead away, and whether the conversation ends or keeps talking. These decide who your bot turns away. Choose them on the Rules page.
- Whether the bot may say a rule's number to leads. The AI cannot confirm it for you.
- Your emergency message and your confirmation of it, and your currency and time zone (Emergencies and safety).
- Offers and discounts, how hard your bot sells, what leads may see (including whether showing options is on), the team, billing, channels, and bookings.
- Which question is a core one, and removing a core question: the bot's flow rests on it. It suggests you switch it off instead, which stops the bot asking it, and links to the row.
- What your bot may tell leads. Ask AI does not add or reword prices, policies or other facts; those are on What your bot may tell leads. Every setting is yours too.
- Adding a new rule. Only the wording and number of a rule that already exists.
A rule's number is the one thing on this list it can touch. If you type the number yourself and it is the only figure in your request ("change the minimum to 25,000"), and the rule is already marked Hard or Negotiable, keeping the change counts as your own edit and confirms the number. If the AI picks the number ("a bit higher"), the number changes but stays unconfirmed, and the bot will not state it to a lead until you confirm it on the rule. Even a confirmed number is stated only while Tell the lead this limit is on for that rule and Safe mode is off.
Cost and limits
Ask AI does not use your AI reply allowance; that is for your bot's replies to leads. Instead it is limited, with no setting to change: 20 requests an hour for your workspace, counted from the top of each clock hour. A request that fails still counts. Requests are up to 500 characters, and one answer holds at most 40 changes ("That is a lot at once. Try a smaller request.").
Changing your mind
Everything you keep is in Setup history, where the set can be undone as long as you have not edited the same things by hand since.
